I have the great joy of living my childhood dream of being an artist. At 5 years old I began painting beside my maternal grandfather Walter, who created into his 90’s. Side by side we would paint various interpretations of the land … he often including a barn or typically Maine structure … and me opting for the solitary quietness of nature.
Adulthood has led me to discover my creative voice and vision – a passion for creating meditative landscapes. I express my “painting voice” through interpretations of natural wonder: the mood of the sky, dance of the sea, light on the land ...
Inspired by both travels and imagination, I often select a theme in which to explore through a suite of paintings. Soft pastels provide both the spontaneity and painterly qualities I desire. Color, light, compositional form, etc., capture my attention and from one of those vantage points each new journey begins.
